About Mrs. Jennings

Hi, I’m Jennifer Jennings, AKA Mrs. Jennings. I have 19 years of teaching experience; 15 in elementary school and four in middle school. I subbed for 12 years at the elementary level (can you believe it!?) Then, I was hired as a resource teacher at a middle school. So, I am both a general education and special education teacher. Three years ago, I switched positions from a resource teacher, back to a general education teacher. For two years, I taught kindergarten and this year I’m teaching fourth grade.

Direct instruction and small group instruction are my main teaching style. I really honed my small group and center instruction (and particularly routines) in kindergarten and have carried that over to fourth grade.

I have a B.A. in Anthropology, a multiple subject credential, and an educational specialist credential.

Creating connections with students is really important. I usually volunteer for student-based activities on my campus, such as heading up student council, running positive behavior programs, or organizing thematic activities.

I also like sharing information with my colleagues and finally decided to start writing about what I know, what I’ve tried, and what has worked in my classroom. I’m just here to share tips and ideas with you.
